All are welcome

If there is a phrase which captures our vision for San Damiano, it is “All are welcome!” We see the Church as the one place where the doors are open to everyone.

Unfortunately, we regularly meet people who, for one reason or another, have not felt welcome in the Church. Sometimes the issue is their inability to believe ancient ideas which run counter to modern understandings of the world – a literal reading of the Bible just doesn’t make sense to them. Sometimes the problem has to do with personal history, such as divorce and remarriage, or choices about birth control. Others have been ostracized because of their liberal political views or their sexual orientation and family makeup.

Whatever it is that has kept you from being at ease with the Church, we want you to know that you are welcome at San Damiano. There are no litmus tests of your faith, politics, or lifestyle. You don't have to think, act, or look like we do.

Regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or how they voted in the last election, we welcome all who seek God's reign of love and justice to:
  • full membership in the parish
  • a voice in our decision-making
  • communion at Christ's Table
  • access to all the sacraments, including Holy Orders and Holy Matrimony
It is more than a slogan when we say, “All are welcome!”

Our vision is to be a welcoming and fully-inclusive expression of the Body of Christ in Little Rock, joining with Jesus in his mission "to preach good news to the poor ... to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
